- Uveits assoicated with juvenile idiopathic arthritis occurs in around 10 % of children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. It is the most common and invalidating extraarticular component of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis.
- Uveitis in Childhood has an incidence of approximately 4.3-6.0 in 100.000 children. Around 20% of them have a Juvenile idiopathic Arthritis associated Uveitis. It is the 3rd most common cause of Uveitis. It is an orphan disease.
- It is still the most common known reason of blindness in developed countries.
- Currently there are no validated outcome measures specifically for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis associatred Uveitis.
- Our project is the first study, where prospectively a standardized assessment and at the same time with the assessment of the quality of life from the patients with Juvenile Idiopathisc Arthritis associated Uveitis is assessed.
- The project should help to improve the care of these patients throughout the world
